GREEN BAY CHI ALPHA

Types of One-on-Ones

DISCIPLESHIP: These are the students that are FAT & Humble, Hungry, Smart.  In other words, someone you could see doing D Team next year. You are meeting with them to help them grow and to walk with them through things that will prepare them to move into apprenticeship.  Meet with these students once a week during a scheduled time.

PASTORAL: This is for those students who aren’t interested in discipleship. You will meet with them to check in 2-3 times a semester.  This can be a scheduled sit down, or you can initiate a more organic conversation as you are spending time together (eating, shopping, studying, etc.). The goal is that they know you care about them and they have a place to share and be known.  Pastoral 1 on 1’s may also happen in a time of crisis where you would meet with them more frequently and intentionally until the worst of the crisis has passed.

NEW BELIEVER: Someone who is new to the faith.  You are meeting with them to help them learn basic principles of faith and support them as they make the first steps of surrendering their lives to Jesus. Meet with these students once a week during a scheduled time.

QUESTIONING UNBELIEVER: Someone who is not yet a Christian, but who has questions and/or is willing to talk about faith. This can happen in a scheduled meeting, or in a more organic setting.  Meet with them once a week or as often as they are willing.

UNBELIEVER: Students who have not yet expressed interest in faith, but who you are in relationship with. Live life with these students – making sure that your life is questionable.  As you build real relationship, questions and opportunities to respond will increase.
