Green Bay Chi Alpha
Apprenticeship Syllabus
Welcome to Apprenticeship (also known as the A-Team)! We hope that over the next eight weeks, three things will happen. First, you will grow deeper in your relationship with Jesus. Second, you will grow in community with the people in this Apprenticeship class. Third, you will pray and consider if God is asking you to join the Discipleship Team and reach the campus with the good news of Jesus.
This is an opportunity to grow, but you should also consider this an invitation to really lean in to becoming an apprentice. This is different than your Core Group. This is a class. That means that there will be expectations, homework, and grades. You get to choose how to approach the class. If you’re just looking for your own growth and information, you can approach it like auditing. If you are considering applying for the Discipleship Team, you need to treat it like a class you want to pass.

Expectations & Elements of Apprenticeship
Class Attendance
In person attendance is mandatory. For the 2026 Spring Semester, two class times will be offered. Fridays from 1-3 pm and Sundays from 4-6 pm. Please try to attend your regular class time, but if you have a conflict, you may attend the other class time. If you cannot attend either, you need to let Angie know as soon as you are aware of the conflict. Even if you miss a class, you are expected to complete the homework for the week.
Weekly Homework
Each week, you will have 5 elements to your homework.
Missional Actions: These are things to help you live on mission. They will include meeting new people, sharing your testimony, and sharing the gospel
Action Steps/Practical Skills: These are ways you can apply the Scripture studied and skills you can practice that will help you follow Jesus.
One-on-One: These are topics to discuss in your weekly one-on-one. Many of these overlap with other areas of homework.
Further learning: This may be a video to watch, a podcast to listen to, an article to read, or a conversation to have.
Response form: These must be filled out weekly and are due the Thursday before class at noon.
Sharing the Gospel (3 Circles) and Testimony
Every believer has the responsibility to be a part of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). This includes being able to give an answer for what you believe (1 Peter 3:15). In Green Bay Chi Alpha, we do this through our personal faith testimony and by sharing the 3-Circles Gospel presentation. You will be asked to do this in class and to share with those outside of class.
Action Steps/Practical Skills
Throughout the class, you will be asked to practice the following things:
- Attend a prayer time or go on a prayer walk with a small group
- Practice SOAP journaling
- Eat with someone you don’t know (preferably on campus)
- Bless others
- Meet an international student
- Help work an outreach table
- Honor others
-Make a simple budget that includes tithing
- Self-evaluate
- Pray about joining the D-Team
Final Test
There will be a test at the end of class that covers Common Language and general concepts we cover during the in-person classes and the homework. If you show up to class and pay attention, it will be easy to pass.
Participation in Chi Alpha Community
This class is meant to help you grow in Apprenticeship to Jesus, but it does not take the place of the larger Chi Alpha community. Large group attendance, Core Group attendance, and One-on-Ones are an important part of the entire Apprenticeship experience.
