Sharing Your Testimony

What is a testimony?
  • A testimony is your story about your encounter with Jesus.  When you share your story, it gives people hope that God can do the same for them.

How do I start?
  • Ask yourself, “Why do I love Jesus?”
  • What has Jesus done for me that no one else can do?
  • Answer those questions in a story and tell the story in 2 minutes or less

How to Prepare it?
  • Start with a great Introduction!  One sentence that captures everyone’s attention.
  • Next talk about your life before your encounter with Jesus
    • Mention 1 or 2 sins that God convicted you of
    • Tell of how your realized your need to repent
  • Then, tell what happened during your encounter with God
    • Explain how you talked to God, how you repented, and how you gave your life to Christ
  • Now you share what you’ve experienced after you’ve encountered God
    • Explain how Jesus changed your life, showing the contrast from how you were before
  • Conclusion
    • Declare in a single sentence something that will challenge your listeners.  (ex. Jesus changed my life and I know he can do the same for you).

A Few Tips to Remember:
  • Limit your story to 2 minutes
  • Talk about Jesus, not just God
  • Share your story with passion and sincerity
  • Prepare, Practice, Proclaim
