Session 3 - Budgeting Time
What's in a Typical Week?

This may seem impossible.
The trick is being smart. How do you increase your hours?
The trick is being smart. How do you increase your hours?
- Whatever you do, BRING SOMEONE WITH YOU
- Find out what other people are doing, GO JOIN THEM
- Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the HEART, MOTIVATION and STRENGTH to disciple people the way Jesus did
- Plan for your day/week/month with a CALENDAR
- PRIORITIZE the things that will help you meet your goals (making disciples)
- Use your BELLS: BLESS and EAT
CALENDAR PLANNING
What to Include in Your Calendar
- Immovable Obligations
- Classes (yes you need to go!)
- Work
- Sleep – a healthy amount for young adults is 6-9 hours. How many do you need?
- What time do you need to get up in the morning?
- Add in time for morning routine (shower, dressed, breakfast, etc.)
- Then count backwards…that’s what time you need to go to sleep at night!
- Jesus (Abiding Time) Note: This is the most important thing, but we need to know the right place to put it which is why we put the other things on the calendar first.
- Start with 30 minutes a day
- Don’t forget to include time for church
- XA stuff
- Your 1-on-1s
- Core Group
- Large Group
- Homework time (Yes – you should schedule it! Otherwise you may have too little or too much)
- Physical Health
- Sabbath & Fun
- Sabbath – a day of not working and where you do restorative things each week
- Fun – Yes, fun! Plan for fun things to happen and/or free time where spontaneous fun can happen
What is the value of having your calendar planned?
- Life with no boundaries or structure often ends up in chaos
- You cannot teach and model something you are not using
- Practice helps us grow and get better. You cannot get better at time management if you do not practice it!
